About
(desperation + noise) is a music blog. It has been active since 2005 under various forms and titles.
It is here to observe examples of the human psyche fracturing in recorded music. It does not discriminate. There is potential for deadness in everything: noise, pop, noise-pop, pop gone so mad from noise that it actively seeks to induce tremors, jazz, punk, emo, metal, bad experiments in psychiatry, unnecessary spoken word records, terrible ’90s alt-rock, your favorite band, the band you would prefer to see chewed up by machinery.
It is written by Brad Nelson, pictured to the left, a 22-year-old lumbering mass. His non-desperate, non-noisy hobbies include reading and hiring others to reopen his wounds with their teeth.
Nelson is the print managing editor of Insight Magazine, the University of Nevada, Reno’s student-run magazine. He’s a co-creator of and contributor for RENO NOISE, a Reno-centric music publication. He also contributes to the Reno News & Review.
